Russian authorities have been investigating a grandiose pyramid scheme run by a popular social media influencer, Valeria Fedyakina. Counting $22 million in estimated damage, Vladimir Putin’s government is infuriated by the claims that Fedyakina not only seduced four people into losing millions of dollars in a faux get-rich-quick scheme but also sent the looted funds to the defense of Ukraine. The scheme was uncovered in September 2023, when several victims claimed that they had been conned out of millions of dollars. The allegedly biggest victim claimed to have lost $73 million to Ms. Fedyakina. Her lawyers continuously deny her intentions to transfer the funds to Ukraine’s military.

Russian Crypto Queen Assists Ukraine’s Forces

According to Bitmama’s fake professional portfolio on social media, she was in charge of several high-end global offices for a global crypto platform. She said she conducted business in Moscow, Dubai, Monaco, Serbia, and Turkey and helped investors become wealthier in these destinations.

According to the lawsuit documents, the influencer piloted over $22 million from four wealthy Russian residents in two months. The trick was to gain the trust of these investors and request that they transfer the funds to her, promising to deposit them in an advanced crypto exchange in Dubai.

The United Arab Emirates later became the destination of Valeria’s escape, but Russian cops captured her attempting to board the plane. The 24-year-old ended up in a high-security Russian gulag despite Valeria being six months pregnant at the time.

She was briefly released from the detention center when she gave birth to her daughter but was quickly returned to Russia’s notorious detention system days after giving birth. Valeria now faces up to ten years in Russia’s worst prisons if she is convicted, even though any formal charges from Vladimir Putin’s crew are yet to come.

On the Flipside

Valeria Fedyakina’s lawyer team has repeatedly told the local media that the social media star has always supported Putin’s full-scale war on Ukraine.

The Russian Crypto Queen’s team even allegedly agreed to donate funds to the Russian side if the massive fraud case gets dropped before trial.

Why This Matters

Cryptocurrency donations in the Russo-Ukraine war are considered a foundational source of help. Due to weekend availability and quicker processing times, cryptocurrency payments have the edge over bank transfers.
