Coinbase to Launch Gateway for Everything Onchain at EthCC 7

Coinbase has launched a new wallet web app, giving users a hub for all onchain activities.

In an announcement made at EthCC 7, hosted in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, Coinbase said the wallet is accessible from both desktop and mobile devices, this new platform aims to revolutionize the way users interact with the blockchain ecosystem.

Coinbase said whether it’s managing crypto assets, engaging with NFTs, or exploring decentralized finance (DeFi), the Coinbase Wallet web app gives an integrated user experience.

The new wallet allows users to connect all wallets including the MetaMask wallet, Phantom wallet, or any other self-custodial wallet supported by Wallet Connect. This in turn will give its users an “aggregated view” of all their assets.

The wallet will allow users to trade over 2 million tokens across eight different chains including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, BSC, Polygon, Avalanche, and Solana from any wallet.

Coinbase Says Simplifying User Onboarding Important

Coinbase, senior director of engineering, Chintan Turakhia, told Cryptonews, “So what we launched is smart wallets. it’s really focused on just bringing self-custody options into the future making it easier for users to onboard.”

Turakhia took to the stage at Ethcc 7 on 9 July and discussed the challenges faced by the crypto industry as a whole. He stressed it is important to simplify user onboarding.

“Our mission collectively is to bring more and more users onchain, and that’s why we created Coinbase wallet … onboarding users in five seconds flat,” said Turakhia.

On stage Turakhia also discussed the important role of developers in creating more user-friendly platforms.

“We are moving towards an L2 dominant world. Developers are the ones who should be building the consumers’ apps out there, which make the users go ‘wow’, instead of being confused by crypto jargon,” said Turakhia.

In an interview with Cryptonews, Turakhia said one trend people should pay attention to is around stablecoins as payments.

“When we look at some of these hyperinflation countries out there Argentina example, it’s it’s a really strong use case for stablecoins,” said Turakhia.

MetaMask Launches Delegation Toolkit at EthCC 7

During EthCC 7, MetaMask, the crypto wallet launched by Ethereum developer firm Consensys, also released the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit, which allows “seamless onboarding” of users.

MetaMask said the package of developer tools and smart contracts allows dapps and protocols to build new experiences. The tools aim to give “granular levels of safety” tailored to users’ needs.
